An exciting opportunity exists for a Road Technician Level 3 to join our Technical Operations team.
Reporting Line: Technical Operations Manager
Role Type: Field-based | Extensive travel required
ROLE PURPOSE
The Road Technician Level 3 is accountable for providing advanced technical service, repair, installation and calibration of CIRO coffee and beverage equipment at customer sites. The role requires a high level of technical independence, first-time fix capability, strong customer interaction and strict adherence to safety, quality and service standards.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Technical Service & Repairs
- Perform intermediate to advanced fault finding across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and software-related issues.
- Repair, service and refurbish coffee and beverage equipment to ensure optimal mechanical, functional and aesthetic standards.
- Calibrate, program and configure equipment to ensure correct coffee extraction and in-cup quality.
- Conduct preventative maintenance and first-time repairs where possible.
- Perform pre-delivery inspections, installations and on-site testing with product.
- Escalate unresolved technical issues and engage internal specialists when required.
Equipment & Product Quality
- Strip, clean, descale and reassemble equipment and components (e.g. boilers, taps, valves).
- Perform basic software upgrades and parameter programming on machines.
- Test end-product quality through tasting to ensure CIRO quality standards are met.
- Ensure freshness testing and correct usage of CIRO products at customer sites.
Customer & Commercial Interaction
- Represent CIRO professionally at all customer locations.
- Clearly communicate faults, corrective actions and operational guidance to customers and site management.
- Conduct value-added training visits where required and ensure customer sign-off on paid services.
- Build strong customer relationships to support retention, service excellence and volume growth.
- Ensure customers are informed of any equipment changes, settings adjustments or training provided.
Administration & Reporting
- Complete all required service documentation accurately and timeously, including:
- Electronic Service Orders (ESO)
- Job cards and spares consumption
- Time sheets, overtime and tool checks
- Customer evaluations and sign-offs
- Maintain accurate equipment records, manuals and service files.
Safety, Compliance & Asset Care
- Adhere to all safety, health and environmental standards.
- Use tools and equipment responsibly and only when trained and authorised.
- Maintain a clean, safe working environment and report risks or non-compliance.
- Take full responsibility for company assets including vehicles, tools and spares.
- Maintain a professional personal image and a clean, well-kept company vehicle.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
- Grade 12 / Matric (essential)
- Minimum N3 Electrical qualification (essential)
- Relevant certification on commercial coffee and beverage equipment (advantageous)
- Advanced Coffee Course Certificate (advantageous)
Experience & Technical Skills
- Proven technical service and repair experience on electrical equipment (220V / 380V)
- Intermediate to advanced fault-finding capability
- Intermediate to advanced use of a multimeter
- Working knowledge of coffee extraction and equipment calibration
- Logical, methodical problem-solving ability
Other Requirements
- Valid Code 10 driver’s license
- Willingness to travel extensively and work overtime / standby when required
